McCain Opposed Motor Voter Act
Why does Senator John McCain want to make it hard for Americans to register to vote? In 1993, He voted against H.R. 2 which allows citizens to register to vote when they get or renew a driver’s license. Thankfully, enough Democrats and Republicans came together to pass this important legislation.
This program has allowed millions of Americans the convenience of registering to vote while doing other necessary government functions. It has increased voter registration. This lowers the mental barrier to voting and can lead to higher turnout. This law has directly strengthened our democracy, yet John McCain voted against it.
Does McCain want to make registering to vote more complicated for Americans?
